Management of radiation-induced angiosarcoma of the breast with total mastectomy and superficial inferior epigastric artery flap reconstruction: a case report

چکیده
Background: Radiation-induced angiosarcoma of the breast is a rare but serious long-term complication radiation, often from adjuvant therapy for previous cancer treatment. Early lesions typically appear benign and are misattributed to trauma, however disease rapidly progressive has high recurrence rate poor prognosis. Common imaging modalities such as mammography ultrasound not sensitive, though magnetic resonance may be more reliable. Once diagnosis confirmed via histopathologic evaluation core-needle or punch biopsy, surgical treatment should delayed. Reconstruction with free flap provides an advantage over other reconstructive techniques by allowing adequate coverage large defect left maximal resection previously-irradiated tissue ideal oncologic wound healing outcomes.

ANATOMY OF THE SUPERFICIAL INFERIOR EPIGASTRIC ARTERY FLAP
ABSTRACT Background: Several case studies have described the use of the superficial inferior epigastric artery (SIEA) flap as a pedicled flap for reconstruction of upper and lower ex tremities, or a free fasciocutaneous flap when a large amount of skin coverage is required for hemifacial atrophy, breast or head and neck reconstruction. Apparently, the anatomical findings of previous studies ar...

متن کاملSuperficial Inferior Epigastric Artery Flap for a Total Parotidectomy Defect
Introduction: The superficial inferior epigastric artery flap offers ample volume for reconstruction, an inconspicuous scar, and no functional donor site deficit. This report details its use for volume replacement after parotidectomy. Methods: We report a 27-year-old woman with recurrent acinic cell carcinoma, requiring left total parotidectomy and partial mastoidectomy. In anticipation of sign...

In this study, partial breast reconstruction was undertaken after breast conservation therapy using mini abdominal free flaps on both an immediate and delayed basis.Patient demographics, oncologic status, reconstructive data, and complications were collected from medical records.Twelve patients (age range 39-60) were included in this study with a mean follow-up time of 5 years. Ten mini superfi...
